Final Day of Training

Today was the final day of RA training, and it was a day in which we were allowed to sleep in. The day did not start until 9:30, which was kind of nice. We went over the events that will be happening in the next few days, and then we discussed consistency, which I think we a helpful thing, we were able to work out some of the grey areas in terms of certain policies so that we would all be doing things the same. After that we had lunch and Katie had to stay behind for a moment which left me with out my safety net for gotcha, and I had a bad feeling, Daniel and Lee, were lurking by my door, so i ran back to be with people where I would be safe, but eventually I had to go back to my room and I knew that one of them was around and as soon as I went to unlock the door, and Daniel Got me :( I was killed at my doorstep. I was so upset, and I texted Katie to let her know that I had been killed and that I could no longer keep her safe. I had a yummy lunch of leftovers, and then we met in Keyoh to go over documentation which seems to be pretty straight forward, though I think that writing up incident reports is going to really suck, due to how formally they have to be written, though I do understand why they have to be done that way. After documentation we were did On-Call role playing, which was the part of training that I was least looking forward to. I was worried that I wouldnt be able to take it seriously and that it would be super hard, but that wasn't the case. It was very helpful and the team gave constructive feedback, all in all I think it was a great learning experience and I think it will be helpful for when I am actually On-Call. After that training was done, we had a little De-brief and then we all broke apart to get ready for the team dinner. Katie and I decorated our door, and it looks really good and cute. we then got ready together and looked all nice, and then as we were leaving to go meet the rest of the team Katie was killed on our doorstep by Lee :( It was a sad way to start off the evening. The team met outside and everyone was looking snazzy in their fancy clothes. Jenn was a tad late, but while we were waiting we go some fancy head shots taken. Once everyone was ready to go, we broke off into cars and went out to hummus brothers for dinner, and there was so many people at dinner, it was a little ridiculous. Dinner was pretty good though, Morganne and I split crab dip and calamari to start, and then I had the butter chicken for dinner, which was soso. The appetizers were way better, I think my problem is that I am too used to the butter chicken I get at home and nothing up here in Prince George can seem to match it. After a very long and loud dinner Katie, Susan and I went to save on and picked up a few things, I went needed nothing and ended up with goldfish crackers and triscuts, oops. We then grabbed him a warm beverage from second cup and went back to rez. My plans for the night are to relax, and hit the hay early. Night!

Training day 4

This morning we started training a bit later, which was nice because we had many sessions today.

We learned about fire safety and security which was a good presentation, the head of unbc security seems like a cool guy.

After that we had a long lunch again, followed by a session on on-call procedure, and assertiveness and then we also had a presentation on time management and our day ended early, which was nice

Katie and I worked on floor decorations and we are basically done, which is good.
Tonight was spent hanging out with the team and helping people with their door decs

Now I plan on relaxing and hitting the hay early even though we have a late start tomorrow

Night!

Also I am still alive in gotcha!

Training day 3

Training was a bit more intense today, we had talk about suicide type stuff whig wasn't too bad, and then we had a lunch break. We also started playing gotcha which is like spy vs spy where we all get a spoon with our persons name who we have to kill and in order to kill someone you have to do it alone or with no living people around.
So far I have made no kills but I am still alive

We then had a super long drug presentation which was way too long and I was getting irritable. That was followed by a programming presentation, which was soso

We were given the night off I work on door decorations which was fun, Katie and I hung out with Liz and kris which was alright

I would write more but I need to get ready for bed, another day of training tomorrow.

Training day two

This morning was okay, we learned about communication and got talked too by counseling and health services. The best part of the morning was surprise booster juice.

We had another long break before our next activity, we had lunch and katie and I started room checks, we got 5 done before having to head back to the school for a gambling presentation. The presentation was alright.
That was followed by a game of family feud with things from the residence life handbook, that was fun.

We then took our pics for our ID tags and few fun group shots before breaking for another hour and then heading to Jenns to have breakfast for dinner and it was soso, though it was mostly pancakes and I am really not a fan of pancake mic so I didn't really enjoy it but I did enjoy the fresh fruit. We now have another break, and then we will be going to the movies. I'm going to see the campaign, it's apparently funny but pretty short.
I may or may not write more for the day and incase I don't

Night!

It's been awhile

So, I came back to prince George on Friday and quite frankly forgot to start writing in my blog, but that's okay because I did nothing school related on the weekend other than unpacking

Today marks the first day of RLT training and the start of my blogging for my last year of university.

I should probably start off with a recap of my summer.
In may, I went on an Alaskan cruise with Dan and his friends and it was not really my thing, really expensive and I think I would have enjoyed a different vacation Much more.
Shortly after that, Dan and I broke up, which I think is for the best.

I spent the rest of my summer working, mostly 7 days a week, I ended up working 87/98 days and two of my days off were sick days, all in all a really boring summer, the upside is that I got three references and a job offer for next summer if I want it, though I don't know if I can handle another summer monitoring potato fields.

And now into the now or at least closer to now. I worked up until last Wednesday and had the Thursday off to get my stuff together and my dad Oliver and I left early Friday morning and drove up to prince George. It was a good drive, we moved all the stuff out of the car and put of storage, which didn't take long, the Saturday was spent shopping for groceries with my dad and then he and Oliver left early that afternoon and I was left to unpack, and Katie moved in that day too.

The rest of the weekend was spent unpacking and catching up.

Today marked the dirt day of RA training, and it was good, we have a new RLC named Jenn who has only been in PG for two weeks so she is more new than I am. It was a relaxed day with fun team building games, my least favorite was Lego timberwolf where we had ti build a Lego structure in teams without talking and only one team member could look at the structure at a time, I mainly didnt like it because some of the pieces were missing from the bag that we were given.

Today we also learned that as RAs we will have the privilege of being able to drive the universities Nissan leaf on weekends ( as long as we have a clean driving record etc) which I am so excited about, I really want to drive it and see what a fully electric car is like.

We had a team lunch consisting of pitas and some of us chilled outside in the sun and played frisbee and listened to music thanks to Becky and Levi on the ukulele and guitar respectively.

After lunch we learned about mediation which was good and then we had a long dinner break, so long that I didn't even know what to do with myself.

After dinner we broke into teams and had to make an infomercial using a bag of random items and it was fun, I ended up building a cat and squirrel out of Lego and I was allowed to keep them as pets, which is exciting.

The training is done for the day and I plan to go to bed early as we will be having another long day tomorrow and I have to look nice tomorrow because we are getting our mug shots done

I think that about sums things up

Night!
