Still a very tired Chanel

I had an 8 am lab this morning, and lucky for me I got no calls when sleeping last night, though the phone did ring once this morning, but just a single ring, and I went to answer it, but it stopped before I answered it. I dropped the phone off with courtenay, as I had class to get to. My lab was kind of annoying, we went out into the woods to take a variety of measurements, and we were in plots that were loaded with Devil's club, and i was getting attacked. I was also annoyed by the fact that some people in my group were sweating the small stuff, and making things take longer that they needed to. The lab took 3 hours, and in the end, I was the only one with data I went to my first real society and space aka social geography tutorial, and it went well, I participated and it made me less nervous for the seminar/tutorial that my partner have to lead next week. After the seminar my partner and I met up to discuss our game plan, and we sorted out the main things we wanted to address etc, and I will do some more work on in this weekend, and hopefully be in a good place on Sunday. I also went to the library and took out a book that Jenina recommended called the no nonsense guide to globalization After that I was done all that I needed to do at school, and it was back to res to help Katie get ready for her and Kris' one year and she was ooey gooeying all over the place, she got ready and we chatted, until about 3 when Kris arrived to get her and he brought her a rose that had Happy Anniversary printed on it, which was super cool, and he gave her a card. Shortly after that they were off and I was left by myself. Instead of doing homework, I made soft pretzels, before heading off the hill to meet up with Liz for all you can eat Sushi, which was pretty good, but I ate way too much. Now that I am back at res, I dont have much in the way of plans, I'm going to try and get at least something productive done, but I'm tired and can't focus and all I want to do is sleep. It will be an early night tonight, I hope res is quiet. Night!

2nd shift on Call

I did not sleep super awesome last night, I ended up staying the night at Marks and I just could not seem to fall asleep and then I was up super early, and back at res by 7:30. I ate breakfast and was down at the school by 8:30 and in the library reading the paper for my Society and Space Seminar tomorrow. I managed to get that done before class, and then I had 5 hours of class. Wildlife ecology was okay except I was having trouble staying awake, and it was the same thing in Plant Ecology. After that I had my first Plant Ecology lab, and it seemed to be a rather pointless lab, we went out into the woods and measured the DBH of trees and we took measurements in order to estimate their height. The lab was over by 1:20, instead of 2:20, and then I ended up running into Fabris and going to the library to photocopy the readings for the seminar that I have to lead next friday. After that I picked up the on call phone and went to my room to eat some lunch, since I hadn't eaten in awhile. I then tried to nap as I was super tired, but that didnt go well, I just wasted time. I wasted most of my evening, I'm too tired to do anything, but I have to stay up till 11, as I have to do rounds at 9:30 and then again at 11, and then finally I will be able to sleep. I am grateful that tomorrow is friday, even though that means I have an 8am lab, and tomorrows lab will be outside and it's quite cold in the mornings now :( I guess I will continue to be useless until I finish all my rounds and such and then it will be off to have a good nights sleep. Wednesday, the 12th, Fabris' day of Birth

I was up early, even though I didnt have class till 10, because I had to meet up with my plant ecology group so we could try and come up with a plant competition experiment to do, we brainstormed and managed to come up with a few ideas, and by tomorrow, we should know which one we are doing as we need to write up the proposal for next Tuesday which is really soon. After that Elaine and I hung out until 10, when I had my geo of Canada class, which went okay, nothing special, learned about regionalism, after that it was off to Society and Space aka Social Geography I had one more class after my Geography classes and that was my pop and com ecology class, which I am finding hard. I can't seem to stay focused during that class. I drift off about an hour into the class and the class is an hour and half, I need to work on that. I met up with Liz, and we walked up to res to meet Katie so we could all go to the mall and to the grocery store. At the Mall Katie was getting Kris his anniversary present, as they are celebrating their one year on friday, Cute! After that we went to save-on for groceries, yay! Once back at res I had dinner, and printed off notes along with a paper for my lab on friday. I even read the paper, because I am obviously a super student. After that I tried to research Globalization, along with writing my Canada Journal, but that went less well. Tomorrow will be a more productive day as I am on call, and will have no choice but to be productive. My plans for the night are to hang out with Mark for a bit, since Katie abandoned me again to go to Kris'. Sleeping will also be part of the plan for the night, so exciting Night!

Tired Day

I woke up and I was not happy about waking up, the RA meeting ran till 11, which is past my bed time and I did not go sleep right away afterwards, resulting in a tired Chanel. I had a tutorial at 8:30, which went okay, followed by wildlife ecology and then plant ecology, and I am learning that in plant ecology we never do all the things we are supposed to do get done in the class, we spend too much time on group stuff, and not enough time on the actual lecture. After class we made our groups for our competition experiments, I'm with Elaine, Hayden and Kurt, should be interesting. We are meeting tomorrow morning to try and come up with an idea for an experiment. After that Elaine and I went to the First Farmers Market of the year, and we had spicy greens for lunch and bought ogo pogos, which consisted of marshmallows, peanut butter, butterscotch. I also bought lettuce and salsa, which I'm sure will be delicious. After that I went back to res, and I didnt really do all that much after that. I printed off some notes, and sat on the couch in a blanket. Eventually I picked up the Neyoh on Call phone for Levi, because he had class until 9, and needed someone to watch the phone, and I had nothing to do with my day. I was going to go to the gym, but I was too tired. Liz came over at 2:30, and she made scalloped potatoes from a box, so I decided to make some from scratch, and they were super yummy, I had them with turkey sausages, and it was all very yummy. Liz and I played crib, and we hung out until Katie came back from class, and then Kris came over, and we all hung out and got on the topic of Halloween, which made me start looking for costumes and ended with me buying a pirate costume and a corset, hopefully when they show up they will be nice. I plan on going to bed early as I am tired, and I am meeting with people at 8:30 to discuss experiment ideas, hopefully we can get it sorted out in a hour as we need to have a proposal done by next Tuesday. Night!

First monday of the year

I was up at 730, even though I didn't have class till 10. I got ready slowly, had breakfast and did my usual morning stuff.

At ten I was down at the school for my first real geography of Canada class, and it was okay, not too dull and I was able to keep up with the notes for the most part which was good

After that I had my first Jim Windsor lecture and it was interesting, lots of tangents and I need to practice taking notes in his class to make sure I am writing down the right information.

After that I had some time before my next class but I just went to the class room and hung out with some people until class started. I also sold another textbook which is awesome, the lecture itself was okay, I find it hard to focus in the class and I think it has something to do with his voice

After class I went up to res to drop my stuff off before heading back down to the school to meet up with a prof and a bunch of TAs and graduate students to go to the pub, as it opened today and our prof, Russ, invites everyone to the pub for free beer and I thought it would be a good experience and it was fun. However I suck at drinking beer, I tried, and got Half way through before I decided that I would not be finishing the beer. My tummy was hurting, probably had something to do with the fact that I hadn't eaten a proper lunch. Attention was drawn to the fact that I didn't finish my beer which was unfortunate.

After that I went back to res, and started making dinner as I was hungry and my tummy hurt. I had a dinner of leftovers and then some cookies.

The rest of my evening has been rather dull, just a lot of sitting and not a lot of texting or talking or doing anything. I did shower, and now I just have to sit around waiting for the RA meeting at 930, until then I will be watching the voice with Katie.

Sunday, sunday, sunday!

This morning I woke up at 8, after a decent nights sleep. I waited around and took a shower and just before 11, I went down to the leaf, where I was supposed to meet Kyle and Ryan, so I could drive people to the SPCA event. Kyle didnt show up so Ryan just gave me the FOB (aka key) and I was off up to res court to pick people up. I had a full car going to cottonwood park and none of us really knew where we were going, but we found it eventually, and they were safely dropped off and I headed back up to the University to park the car, and plug it in (weird thing to say about a car) I headed back to res to get ready for what some might call a date, I dunno what to call it, I will call it a picnic type event. While I was waiting to be picked up, Katie and Kris came up and were hanging out when my ride got here, and Katie was creeping him through the window. I went outside, got in his truck and we were off to Purden Lake, which is east of Prince George. I guess I should mention some details, his name is Mark, and he's 6'8 (way taller than me), he has a rottweiler named Tonto, who is super cute, and he came too. The lake was nice, the weather could have been better, but it wasnt horrible. We had pitas for lunch and I spent most of my time petting Tonto, who is a big suck, and he tried to get in my lap, which was funny to see. I don't think he could fit on my lap, but he tried. After a few hours at the lake, we had to head back as I was supposed to pick people up from the SPCA event, but sadly I had been out of reception and the event ended early, so I missed all the texts and was unable to pick people up. I feel really bad, But I didnt know I wouldnt have reception, or that the event would finish early. Mark dropped me off at the University and I ended up getting the leaf and following him to his place so we could hang out, and I was trying hard not to fall asleep on his couch, as I have been feeling quite tired. I had to leave just before 6, as Katie and I were supposed to meet with a resident, but when I got back Katie wasnt back yet, so I had left early for no real reason, oh well, it meant that I could make dinner. I made some curry, and then Katie came home and we chatted and I told her about my day and such and katie OOey GooeyD everywhere. Eventually the resident came and we chatted and did what needed to be done. After that I was able to shower which was much needed as I smelled like dog, and it wasnt going away when I washed my hands, luckily the smell went away with my shower. I think I will go to bed early as I am quite tired, First full week of class starts tomorrow, Wish me Luck! Night!

The never ending first aid course

Last night I did not sleep well, even though I didnt get any calls. I was just worried that I would get a call and thus couldnt sleep. I was up before my alarm and out of bed by 7. I made breakfast and a lunch to take to the first aid course I had to do. My morning was slow and I was tired. At 7:50 I met Krista and Sam and we went to tim hortons and then to the first aid course where we met up with Lee and Levi and Reesha. And that was the beginning of the never ending first aid course. The instructors name was Steven Harper and he openly admitted that he was distantly related to "the" steven harper and I should have taken that as a bad sign. The course moved a turtles pace and the instructor was rude and we ended up having lunch almost an hour late and the course itself finished an hour late, resulting in us being late for Res challenge. I really dont want to rant too much about it. Long story short it felt like it never ended, but thankfully it did and I passed so it's all good We got back up to res mid way through the first res challenge, and we all stepping in to help, even though we were tired and hungry etc. I may of had a sundae for dinner and started getting twitchy from the sugar. So I went home and had some veggies and hummus as I was in need of real food. I finished my undergraduate research application and emailed it to Russ, it was not my best work, but it's done and it brings me one step closer to getting some money for the work I will be doing Katie left me at 7 to go spend the night and Kris' so I have been having kind of a lonely night, but some cool stuff did happen. 1. Ryan showed me the Nissan Leaf and I got to drive it which was awesome and I will be driving it tomorrow :) 2. Krista Came over to help me write and RA report thingy which was nice, we had a nice chat and it was nice company for a bit The rest of my night has been spent alone watching girly movies and painting my toe nails. I plan on finishing up my toes and then hitting the hay early, well before midnight Night!
